Sarah Achieng and Anisha Basheel met for the first time Tuesday morning during the weigh-in and face-off at Charter Hall from 11am, just a day before they took on each other in the ring on Wednesday.
Secretary-general of the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission Franklin Imbenzi said they have finalised arrangements for Wednesday’s professional boxing bonanza at Charter Hall from 2pm.
Achieng has appealed to the commission to ensure there’s enough security during the face-off because she can accidentally punch her Malawian opponent, Basheel, who arrived in Nairobi on Monday night.
“I am spoiling for a fight with Anisha, I want to silence her once and for all. Let’s hope there’s enough security because I can easily punch her when we meet for weigh-in,” Achieng said ahead of their Commonwealth light-welterweight title fight.
Anisha had a light workout on Monday at the Advanced Fitness Gym with her coach and manager Clied Musonda.
“Achieng is no match for me,” said Anisha.
“I have got better skills, reach advantage and hard punches. She’ll regret why she accepted to fight me instead of Ruth Chisale. I’m too good for her.”
