Malawi qualified for their third ever AFCON appearance after beating Uganda 1-0 on Monday evening.
A Richard Mbulu’s strike in the 15th minute secured the win as they pipped Uganda who only needed a draw to secure qualification behind Burkina Faso in the group.
Meanwhile, Burkina Faso defeated South Sudan to win the group.
Algeria thrashed Botswana 5-0 while Zambia defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 away from home but the Copper Bullets were already out of the qualifying race after a 3-3 draw Algeria at the weekend.
Mohammed Salah scored a brace and Elneny also had a goal as Egypt thrashed debutants Comoros 4-0.
Eliminated Kenya defeated Togo 2-1 ,and Togo Football Federation sacked Claude Le Roy as head coach of the national team with immediate effect after the Sparrow Hawks failed to qualify for 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
Le Roy won only 3 competitive matches in 35 attempts for the Togolese national team.
Furthermore, Angola defeated Gabon 2-0 while DR Congo defeated the Gambia 1-0.
The remaining slots will be completed on Tuesday as Benin, and Sierra Leone will face each other for the final ticket in their group that also has Nigeria and Lesotho.
Nigeria will also host Lesotho in Lagos but the game is a mere formality.
Already, qualification for the AFCON to be held in Cameroon next year has been secured after Lesotho and Sierra Leone drew 0-0 on Saturday, moments before Nigeria defeated Benin Republic 1-0 in Porto Novo.
A 93rd-minute header by Paul Onuachu secured the win for Nigeria.
Furthermore, Atletico Madrid’s Geoffrey Kondogbia (28) may lead Central African Rep. as captain on Tuesday against Mauritania in the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers.
Central Africa needs a win at all cost to make it to their very first AFCON and join Comoros as a fellow debutant.
