Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has expressed his frustration at the conduct of Orlando Pirates midfielder Goodman Mosele, who failed to turn up for camp ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification double-header against Ethiopia.
Mosele was selected for the two key games and was to make his debut but inexplicably has not showed up in camp or given an explanation as to his reasons why.
“I am not disappointed, I am very angry,” Broos said.
“I don’t understand how a player who can have a first cap for the country doesn’t even come to the camp. He didn’t call us, we don’t know why he is not coming.
“If the player doesn’t want to play for Bafana Bafana, then fine, but then he should tell me that. And I would respect that, everyone is free to decide if they want to play or not.
“But we didn’t hear nothing, we tried to reach him. I am very unhappy with conduct of a player who can be an international for his country.”
Broos has, however, heaped praise on Mosele’s replacement in the squad, uncapped SuperSport United midfielder Jesse Donn.
“I think he is the right man, we have followed him for more than a few weeks and from the first time we saw him for SuperSport, we talked about him for the next games.
“Mosele is not here, so immediately we thought of him. He is a young player, he is talented, so no problem for me.”
Broos said he has been pleased with the attitude of the players who are in camp and said preparations for Saturday’s away match in Bahir Dar are going well.
