Owen Hargreaves reckons Celtic’s ‘beautiful’ attacking football under Ange Postecoglou will make Premier League clubs stand up and take notice.
The former Manchester United midfielder and BT Sport pundit heaped praise on the Aussie boss after a stunning start to life at Parkhead. In his close to 18 months in charge the 57-year-old won back the Premiership title from Rangers and secured the Premier Sports Cup in a domestic double in his first season in charge. This campaign they are in the Champions League proper with Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk in their section.
Domestically, the Hoops are on fire netting 25 goals from six games and boast a 100 per cent record due to the attacking nature of their game. Those principles have not been abandoned on Europe’s biggest stage with plaudits landing at their door despite eventually losing out to Real Madrid, while last night’s 1-1 draw again was a super attacking display with just the killer goals lacking from an overall solid away display.
Postecoglou’s name has been heavily linked with the vacant Brighton post following Graham Potter’s exit from the club to take over at Chelsea. It is highly unlikely he will make the jump from the Scottish champions, but Hargreaves reckons teams down south will ‘take notice’ of the way Celtic are performing with a playing style ‘fans love’.
He told BT Sport : “They go at everyone. Ange Postecoglou and the way he plays with beautiful attacking football, he goes after everyone.
“He wants to play attacking football and this is what they do. They’re good in possession, in transition, they’ve got good attacking players.
