Celtic Sign Watford’s Bosun Lawal, Beating Out Other Clubs

Celtic came out ahead of the likes of Chelsea and Norwich as they announced the signing of Watford’s Bosun Lawal as an incoming midfielder.

Just 18 years old, Lawal is a versatile player who can work both in center-midfield or center-half.

Celtic FC signed him for just £120,000.

Recent reports had Norwich City and Fulham in the Premier League as the most aggressive clubs in trying to land the youngster.

Chelsea also was in the mix, but entered the conversation too late, supposedly.

“Three or four days after playing in the U23s, he played another 90 minutes and it was effortless to him. I think there’s not many young players that catch your eye and you think ‘he’s going to have a career’, but he certainly does that.”

Celtic’s deal with Lawal starts off as a three-year contract.

Lawal has been compared to Abdoulaye Doucoure, midfielder at Everton.

Celtic are in pre-season camp currently in Wales, with matches vs Bristol City and West Ham coming up.

The under-21 cap for the Republic of Ireland should add some versatility to the Celtic midfield.
