In the wake of COVID-19 resurgence, Roma has stopped their players called up for international games from leaving.
This was after carrying out another round of COVID-19 test.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Roma manager, Paulo Fonseca and his staff have decided to have individual training at Trigoria, in a bid to avoid unnecessary contact. This is aimed at preventing a possible outbreak as Marash Kumbulla joined the list of players, who tested positive for the dreaded virus. This has forced six players in isolation at the Giallorossi.
As they continue their fiduciary isolation, AS Roma players won’t be involved in any national team engagement.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo Pellegrini is also COVID-19 positive while Leonardo Spinazzola. Also, Bryan Cristante and Gianluca Mancini won’t be allowed to join the Italy squad at Coverciano, which means they have all been ruled out of action.
Italy will be playing three games during the international break – a friendly against Estonia and the two UEFA Nations League clashes against Poland and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
It could be recalled that Edin Dzeko had tested positive to the dreaded virus last week. The Bosnian forward made the announcement himself as club prefers to keep the identity of those infected private until they get approval from them.
Meanwhile, AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli won’t be returning to Milan, as he aims to recover from an injury. He is hoping to be available for Italy’s upcoming Nations League games.
The 25-year-old joined Italy’s training camp on Tuesday despite missing Milan’s 2-2 draw against Verona last Sunday with a hip injury.
It was gathered that his injury is not serious, prompting him to remain with the national team.
In a related development, Inter Milan have reportedly contacted the respective nations their players are representing. This is to get daily updates for their players on international duty.
