Eriksen: Inter is going for the Europa League trophy, but we miss the supporters

Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen has said that the Nerazzurri are in Germany to win the Europa League trophy, but admitted that the feeling is not the same without the fans.

COVID-19 pandemic had forced UEFA to move the competition to one location to avoid spike of the cases.

Inter has progressed to the final and will be meeting five-times winners, Sevilla in Cologne, Germany. They mauled Shaktar Donetsk 5-0 in the semi-final, while Sevilla knocked out Manchester United.

Speaking with InterNews, the Danish said they are happy to reach their first European final since 2010 when they defeated Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

He further stated that due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the situation is now different as people have to follow the safety protocols, which include social distancing and wearing of masks.

He also said players have also been restricted to their hotels, unlike before they could be allowed to take a walk and do something, adding that the only thing they can do at the moment is to eat, sleep, leave the room, train, and come back.

While stating that a lot of time is being spent in the room, Eriksen said his colleagues are professional and are in Germany to play football.

He further stated that Inter would also be looking forward to winning the trophy because they have come this far.

It could be recalled that Eriksen was part of Tottenham Hotspurs that reached the Champions League Final last season. Spurs lost the final to current champions, Liverpool.

He is now preparing for another European showpiece on Friday with the hope of winning this time around.

Despite losing the final, Eriksen described the Champions League Final as great and added that the goal is to have a different situation this year.

However, he said playing without fans is not the same thing because the atmosphere is not as is used to be.
