Fiorentina won’t be sacking its coach, Beppe Iachini, after having some unimpressive results recently.
Viola is currently 12th on the log with four points from four games. Their latest result sees them losing a golden opportunity of picking up maximum points at Spezia after going two goals up in the first half. The visitors scored the first goal within 100 seconds at the Orogel Stadium in Cesena after coming into the game on two consecutive losses.
After German Pezzella’s early strike, Viola doubled their lead two minutes later through Cristiano Biraghi, who finished from a tricky angle.
Spezia then got back into the game in the 39th minute through Daniel Verde. He converted the chance after profiting from Martin Caceres’s error.
Spezia eventually got back on level terms in the 74th minute when Fiorentina failed to clear their line, and Farias toe-poked the ball into the net to rescue a point for the promoted side.
Speaking after meeting with the coach, Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso says they will stick with the manager, who helped them avoid relegation last season.
The decision to retain Ianchini was made after the American tycoon met with sporting director Daniele Prade and the coach on Tuesday.
With just one win from four games, Iachini looked to be under pressure, as the club is reportedly considering former Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri as Iachini’s replacement. But the recent statement has confirmed Iachini’s position in the team.
Commisso told Tuttomercatoweb. that the club would stick with Iachini, adding that his future at the club has never been a subject of discussion.
While stating that it was the fake news that was saying otherwise, Commisso says what matters to the coach is to do the right thing and never to be worried about what people are saying.
Commisso, who reinstated his confidence in Iachini, said there was never a meeting between him and Sarri as claimed by the media.
While admitting that he was not happy about the team’s performance in the last game, he said the team is strong despite drawing the match against Spezia.
