As Barcelona continues to negotiate with Inter Milan for Lautaro Martinez, indication has shown that the La Liga giant could add defenders, Nelson Semedo and Junior Firpo, to the deal.
This is because Barcelona is not trying to activate the €111m release clause in his contract, as it could affect the club’s budget.
However, Inter is having a different view on the transfer negotiation with Barcelona on the value of the Argentine poacher.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly interested in Martinez as well, but he prefers going to Camp Nou.
According to reports, Barcelona is offering him €12m per season plus additional bonuses.
Sport newspaper reports that Semedo and Firpo appear to be the only players both clubs can agree as possible exchanges in this deal.
FCInterNews.it, however, reported that Inter is only interested in Firpo, the left-back that linked up with the Blauguran from Real Betis for €18m last year. Firpo, who will be 24 in the summer, has played for Barcelona 17 times this season, registering a goal and one assist.
Meanwhile, Barcelona is placing a €30m value on Firpo, but Inter is not worth more than €20m.
With Firpo in the picture, it was reported by the Spanish media that the current La Liga champions are offering €75m cash plus Junior Firpo for Martinez, but Inter Milan insisted on €90m for the Spaniard of Dominican descent.
With Barcelona unable to sell players to raise €111m to meet Martinez’s release clause, other suitors are waiting to see how their negotiations with Inter pans out.
It was also gathered that negotiations appeared to have hit the rock as talks to include players as part of the deal seemed to have broken down.
Sport also reported that both Semedo and Firpo are interested in joining Inter, but the Nerazzurri won’t deal with the valuation of €50m given to Semedo and €30m for Firpo.
Since one of Inter’s targets, Timo Werner, is Chelsea-bound, their attention has shifted to Borussia Dortmund hitman Jadon Sancho in case other clubs come for Martinez and pay the €111m.
