Full-back Achraf Hakimi has officially joined Inter Milan from Real Madrid in a deal that could rise to €45m.
The Morrocan moved to the Italia Serie after completing his loan deal with Borussia Dortmund that is second on the Bundesliga table, losing the title to Bayern Munich again for the 8th straight time.
The Nerazzurri confirmed the development on its official website on Thursday.
The 22-year-old Moroccan has finally left Real Madrid permanently and signed a five years contract, which ends 30 June 2025. After finding it hard to get the first team shirt at the Bernabeau, Hakimi flourished during his loan spell with Dortmund and helped the club reach the Champions League’s knockout stage after ousting Inter from the second spot. He will reportedly earn €5m in each of those five years.
Hakimi had scored against the Nerazzurri in the team 3-2 win over Inter in Germany after coming from two goals down to secure the runners up spot in the table after Inter failed to beat Barcelona in their last group game at the San Siro. He scored 12 goals and provided 17 assists in 72 games before leaving Signal Iduna Park.
The performance of Hakimi has caught the eyes of many big European clubs that have been queuing for his signature after two seasons on loan at Dortmund.
He also won the Champions League with the Whites before embarking on loan, which was the club’s third straight win during the 2017-18 campaign.
Hakimi, who was born in Madrid, chose to represent Morocco at the international level, and he has already played 28 games for the team.
With the deal expected to rise to €45m, the Moroccan international is the most expensive defender in Inter’s history.
Although his primary role is the right-back, he can fit into both flanks.
