It is no longer news that AC Milan has slumped to the Italian Serie A table’s second position after making a good start this season.
Milan slumped to a brace from Lautaro Martinez and a goal from Romelu Lukaku at the San Siro. It was gathered that Milan players have been quiet on social media after the defeat. Only Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez shared their thoughts via their Twitter and Instagram pages after the game.
The Rossoneri had held on strong at the summit till the last two weeks. They initially lost 2-0 against promoted Spezia before suffering another 3-0 defeat in the hands of city and title rivals Inter Milan over the weekend.
Speaking on the defeat, Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic is optimistic that the team will recover from Inter’s loss.
He admitted that the Rossoneri made some mistakes in the Derby della Madonnina defeat that saw Inter increased their gap on the table to four points.
The lanky striker was presented his sixth Tapiro d’Oro by the TV show Striscia la Notizia. This is usually presented to a defeated person in the preceding week.
While vowing that the Diavolo will bounce back, the 39-year-old striker said it was hard to take the defeat.
He promised to go with the Tapiro in the next match, hoping that it will bring luck.
In his reaction, Milan goalie Donarumma said the team knows who they are and where they want to be.
Donarumma, via a Twitter post, urged his team to take their mind off the visit and face their next games.
Meanwhile, talks are still ongoing between the representatives of the 21-year-old and Milan to extend his expiring contract.
According to reports, his agent Mino Raiola wants to include a €40m clause in the new deal.
Unfortunately, it was Donarumma’s 200th Serie A game against Inter.
