La Liga Confirms Barcelona And Madrid’s First Fixtures

The Spanish La Liga has revealed the first set of fixtures that will be played by the two main giants and rivals when the league resumes.

Barcelona and Real Madrid both occupy the first and second positions, respectively, and both teams hadn’t played a game since March when the La Liga was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, after La Liga revealed that the Seville Derby between Sevilla and Real Betis would be the first match to be played on the 11 of June.

For Barcelona, the first game will be against Real Mallorca on the 13 of June. Barca’s last match was against Real Sociedad, who they defeated.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, will be at home to Eibar FC on the 14 of June at the Santiago Bernabeau. The Galacticos has played 27 matches, yet they are still behind Barcelona with 2 points.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s next match will against Leganes at Camp Nou on the 16 of June, three days after playing Mallorca.

For Real Madrid, Valencia will be the next opponent on the 18 of June.

La Liga’s president Javier Tebas has said that the matches will be played behind closed doors and on every day of the week while the season will end on the 19 of July.

According to Javier Tebas, as quoted on BBC, Applause from fans across the world will be played in stadiums in the 20th minute of matches to “show support for the heroes of the Covid-19 pandemic”.

La Liga will be the second major top-flight League in Europe to resume after the Bundesliga resumed in May while the English Premier League has decided to resume on the 17 of June.
