La Liga clubsides will need over a month if they are to get into the level where they would be ready for a restart of the league.

Julen Lopetegui who is the coach of Sevilla disclosed that players need to be in top conditions for a restart.

“We will have to speak about preparation time but, as a manager, I see we will need a minimum of five weeks to be in a situation where we can play every three days in a setting that no one has experienced before, not just playing behind closed doors, but after everything this nightmare has provoked.” Lopetegui was quoted on goal.

The former Spain boss was stating this after some of Europe top flights returned to training this week with Arsenal players training individually on Monday while Bundesliga and Seria A hope to be in full action back by May.

Leagues across the world have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic with the Belgium league and the Dutch Eredivisie concluded already.

Being one of Europe’s epicenter of the Pandemic, the La Liga was postponed early March and close to 230,000 cases has been recorded and 23, 000 deaths has occurred although there has been a reduction in the daily toll of deaths.

This has led to the government easing the lockdown measures in the country on Sunday giving football fans hope that sports will return soonest despite the indefinite suspension of the La Liga on the 23rd of March. .

Meanwhile, League president Javier Tebas has shown intent in completing the season with games set to be played behind closed doors although there is no official date for a restart.

However, whatever the case is, Lopetegui stated that there has to be guarantees in place as well as enough time for clubs to prepare for a return.
