Spain and Valencia Winger Ferran Torres is a subject of interest from English Premier League side, Manchester City, who are said to be ready to pay £20.87m for the player who has five caps for the Spanish U21 national team.
The youngster is said to be the replacement for German forward Leroy Sane, who moved to Bayern Munich this summer, and should negotiations be successful, and he would be City’s first summer signing.
Torres is valued at £40m at the Estadio De Mestalla where has just one year left on his contract, and he is said to be interested in moving to England with the Pep Guardiola’s side.
After finishing 18 points behind Champions Liverpool and conceding 35 goals despite scoring 102 goals, the Citizens are said to be targeting defenders in the summer transfer window, which City director of football Txiki Begiristain has said maybe strange but that the club is ready to deal irrespective.
“We have to be ready, We have less time than ever, so people will have to move fast. We still have the Champions League, so we have to wait to move forward.” Txiki Begiristain was quoted on BBC.
Manchester City are also said to be planning a friendly match behind closed doors this week before the start of the UEFA Champions League in August where Manchester City will hope to take advantage of their 2-1 lead from the Santiago Bernabeau in the first leg, when they host Real Madrid in the second leg in order to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition.
Should they win the tie on aggregate, they would be facing the winner of the unfinished tie between Juventus and Olympique Lyon. Both teams also haven’t played the second leg, but Lyon stands the advantage after getting a 1-0 victory in the first leg.
