Martinez more than happy to honor his remaining contract at Bayern

Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez has expressed his desire to happily run down his remaining part of his contract and has no intention of leaving.

Martinez’s contract with the Bavarians is set to expire on the 30th of June 2021. However, amongst the players whose contract are due for renewal, the Spaniard remains the only player so far that is feeling reluctant to sign an extension soon

Thomas Muller remains the only player to have signed an extension so far with Manuel Neuer still locked in negotiations with clubs hierarchy. Other players are Thiago Alcantara and David Alaba whose deals are set to expire next year.

There have been reports that Javi Martinez is contented with seeing out the remainder of his contract with Die Roten and has no plans of extension.

The Spaniard has found first-team opportunities hard to come by. According to reports it got to a point that the midfielder got frustrated and considered a return to LaLiga probably to join Athletic Bilbao where he once played his trade before crossing to the Bundesliga in 2012.

Since the takeover of Hansi Flick who has just signed a new deal till 2023,  Martinez has revealed he has built more confidence and bought the trust of the boss but his niggling injuries have always been the stumbling block but hopes shouldn’t be lost as Flick has already made references to his brilliant form when fully fit.

Flick, when first appointed as the temporary manager deployed Martinez as a center-back due to injuries to Niklas Sule and Lucas Hernandez but Martinez has had his own fair of injuries this season if he decides to run down his contract playing happily then he has to remain fit.
