Pelissier expressed mixed feeling after Lorient promotes to Ligue 1

With the announcement of the government that there won’t be football action in France until September, PSG was declared the winner of the league after the COVID-19 pandemic brought a halt to the competition.

Lorient is one of the teams that has been promoted to the Ligue 1 after leading the Ligue 2 before the forced break.

Coach of the side, Christophe Pelissier, who is known for bringing teams from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1, admitted to mixed feelings after doing it this time with FC Lorient.

Recall that Pelissier was the same manager hat brought Amiens to the top flight for the first time in their history before departing the Picard club and took over at Lorient.

The last time Lorient was in the top flight was 2017. All thanks to the former Amiens manager who took up a risky job. He took over the Ligue2 champions and took them to the top of the table, with a point advantage over RC Lens after 28 matches before the game was halted.

While expressing his happiness over another success with a Ligue 2 team, Pelissier noted that there are mixed feelings because his happiness is measured

Speaking en route to the team’s success story, Pelissier acknowledged that he had to take some gambles on success when he became the coach of the Brittany club last summer.

While stating that the decision to take the job left everyone around him surprised, he said he didn’t decide alone, having met with the Lorient president, adding that he looked at the project and said it could be interesting. And here he is, he has again rewritten his history with another Ligue 2 scalp and automatic promotion to Ligue 1.

Speaking further, Pelissier said he put his excellent record on the line, which he said was a dangerous situation because he has always get Ligue 2 teams promoted in unexpected ways.

He, however, said that the record with Lorient is one of his favourites because he took over the challenge of managing a team like the Ligue champions.

He added that the faith showed in him by the president with a three-year contract, gave him the impetus to achieve the feat.
