Some of the teammates of OGC Nice’s striker, Kasper Dolberg, have showered praise on him over his performance against AS Monaco.

The Danish forward had torrid time settling into the team after moving from Ajax Amsterdam. After moving to France, his wristwatch was stolen by a youth teammate who was eventually sacked by the team. He bagged two goals for the team to help them keep their European hopes alive at the Allianz Riviera.

In the game that Nice had to come from behind, the performance of the Danish has brought delight to his teammates.

The Dane showed his killer instinct by taking advantage of the two chances he got in a difficult game. In the second period, Dolberg restored parity for his team via a glancing header from Adam Ounas’ cross,  which went beyond the reach of Monaco’s goalie, Benjamin Lecomte. Wissam Ben Yedder had already put the visitors in front in the first interval. Dolber secured the maximum point for Patrick Viera’s men in the 93rd-minute. He scored with a deft touch, guiding Moussa Wagué’s shot home for 2-1.

If he can continue with this form, Dolberg could be the final answer to Nice’s need for a reliable striker. The last time the club had natural strikers was during the stint of Alassane Pléa and Mario Balotelli, who left the club in the 2018/19 season.

The 22-year-old Danish is definitely filling some big boots. It could be said that he has settled into the team with 11 league goals to his credit.

Speaking on his performance after the game, 21-year-old center-back Malang Sarr said the Dane works like a madman and deserves his goals, adding that he had struggled in some games where he didn’t have the opportunity to touch the ball.

While congratulating him for taking his chances, he said it showed that the striker doesn’t need 50 balls in the box to get on the scoring sheet.

Apart from scoring, he has had a direct contribution to a goal every 135 minutes he has played in his Ligue 1 campaign.
