President of the Italian Coaches’ Association, Renzo Ulivieri, has said that newly appointed Juventus coach, Andrea Pirlo knows more about the game than most coaches that have been working over the years.
On Saturday, Pirlo was appointed as head coach at Juventus in his first managerial job, a week after he was introduced as the team Under 23 coach.
Although sacking Maurizio Sarri was not surprising, Pirlo was promoted from the Under-23 job without overseeing a single game.
Speaking with Calciomercato.com, Ulivieri revealed that the former Italy international has yet to get his coaching badges, but he was permitted to take up the role because he was in the most recent course.
He is therefore expected to do his final thesis in October and then acquire the required coaching badge.
Ulivieri, who confidently said Pirlo is one of the most profound thinkers in world football, said he knows more about the game than most coaches who have been on the job for years because he is studious.
While noting that the former AC Milan midfielder looked into the subject, Ulivieri said he is ready to take up the role.
This is because Pirlo was taught by Ulivieri, who stated that he impressed him while going through a course at the Coverciano training ground.
Any coach that must work in Italy will first go through a course at the Coverciano training ground and complete it with exams and final thesis.
Ulivieri further described his student as a very focused, and a smart lad who can analyze possible instruments about the future of football.
He further said that Pirlo always looks forward as he is always there to take notes.
While stating that Pirlo, who spent four seasons with Juventus and enjoyed success as well, was a great player who knows football, Ulivieri added that he is versatile. This is why he believes that he will adapt the system to the characteristics of his players.
