Verona 1 – 3 Inter Milan: New boy Correa snatches away win for Inter

Joaquin Correa made an immediate impact on his Inter Milan debut, scoring twice as the Serie A champions came from behind to win 3-1 at Hellas Verona on Friday.

Correa joined Inter from Lazio on Thursday and came off the bench to snatch the points for Simone Inzaghi’s side, who have begun their title defence with a maximum points from two games so far played.

The Argentina forward struck Inter’s crucial second seven minutes from the end, leaping high to power home Matteo Darmian’s cross and completed a second-half comeback after Lautaro Martinez had leveled shortly after the break.

He added the cherry to the cake in stoppage time with a precise finish.

Defeat was harsh for Verona who had taken the lead through Ivan Ilic in the 15th minute and gave Inter a battle throughout the match. Verona remain without a point after their two opening fixtures.

Inzaghi, who replaced title-winning coach Antonio Conte, is happy that so far all his new signings are in synch as there seems to be no gap left after the departure of Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi.

After Edin Dzeko and Hakan Calhanoglu shone last week against Genoa, it was Correa’s turn to snatch the headlines with his match-winning brace.

In Friday’s early match Udinese carried on their encouraging start with a comfortable 3-0 win over Venezia which follows up on their opening weekend draw with Juventus.

Goals from Ignacio Pussetto, Gerard Deulofeu and Nahuel Molina gave Udinese a deserved three points after a dominant display against their promoted rivals.

It was two goals in as many matches for Deulofeu, who also scored the equaliser last weekend when Udinese came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Juve.
