Felix John Osoroh, the beneficiary of the Dafabet United for Africa – the charity arm of the betting giant – scholarship for his secondary and university education, continues to make impressive progress as the third term of the educational calendar of his Form One education kicks off.

Felix, who scored 393 marks in the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, risked missing out the opportunity to advance in his studies until Dafabet stepped in to help his grandmother with a scholarship to pay all his education expenses until he clears university.

Dafabet head of marketing, Elizabeth Ngirau, says they are so far impressed by the student’s performance adding that his grades pay testament to his determination to succeed in education.

“He has been scoring very good grades and that is quite encouraging because it demonstrates that he is taking his studies very seriously,” she observes.

“It motivates everyone at Dafabet and as a brand we are very proud of Felix because it could be possible for him to get comfortable or sit on his laurels. After all, he has got his sponsorship guaranteed because remember our offer to him was not conditional to his performance.”

Felix, who was raised and still lives with his aging grandmother, has been sending his school report cards at the end of every term since Dafabet took up the role of paying for his education at Sawagongo High School.
“He has not scored anything below B+ and he is among the top performers in his class so we are happy that we took the decision to sponsor Felix.

“We are always a brand that supports the community with which we do business and to invest in the education of children with parents who are not in a position to support like Felix is something we will continue to do in different ways.”

When he joined Form One in July, the student had expressed gratitude and committed says he will work to repay the gesture of kindness with good grades in school; something he has lived up to so far.

“I want to thank Dafabet for everything that they have done for me and my grandparents, I will work and promise to make you proud,” he said when he checked into Sawagongo High School in July.

During his primary school days, Felix had, mostly, been accommodated by his teacher – Boaz Otieno, who had expressed optimism that the student was destined to do well in his education.

“Felix was a promising student, and I was very happy when the result came out. He has a bright future if he can only get someone who can hold his hands, then he will surprise many,” said the teacher at the time.

Ngirau has maintained Dafabet’s commitment to a robust Corporate Social responsibility through a number of initiatives including supporting initiatives in sports and social development, among others.
