The Machakos Golf Club event is Konza Technopolis Development Authority’s (KoTDA) 5th golf event and the first in the Konza InvesTeeing Golf Series calendar. The tournament took place against the backdrop of the recent unveiling of KoTDA’s second strategic plan 2021-2025, which seeks to accelerate the impact of Konza Technopolis.
109 players took to the par-72 Machakos Golf Club.
As part of the event, KoTDA led by its Chairman, Architect Dr. Reuben Mutiso held a tree-planting exercise at the new range which is being developed at the Machakos Golf Club. The initiative, which was started in 2017, seeks to encourage tree-planting activities across the country with the aim of helping enhance Kenya’s forest cover by 2022.
Speaking at the event, Arch. Dr. Mutiso said: “At KoTDA, we believe that golf is a good sport to undertake investor outreach. We are mounting a series of golf events in the country to support our efforts to attract, onboard and retain key investors, which is the first of the three pillars in the recently launched second strategic plan.”
“The Konza InvesTeeing Golf Series gives us an opportunity to change the perception that Konza Technopolis is only for international investors. We are inviting all Kenyans of goodwill to invest in the opportunities at Konza Technopolis.”
On his part, Machakos Golf Club Captain, Joe Mboya hailed the partnership that KoTDA has had with Machakos Golf Club over the last five years.
“Over the last five years, KoTDA has provided continuous investor education that has shown that Konza Technopolis’ investment opportunities are also available for the local investor community. The Machakos Golf Club is now looking to partner with KoTDA to move golf into the Konza Technopolis.”
The Konza InvesTeeing Golf series now moves to the Karen Country Club for the second golf event in the newly unveiled golf series.
