Nyeri and Nanyuki golf clubs will this weekend on host the 2021 NCBA Golf Series, respectively; marking the second doubleheader event of the tournament.

The tournaments, which will be the seventh and eighth on the NCBA Golf Series calendar, will feature more than 300 golfers taking to the course, with respective winners joining previous series event winners in the grand finale to be held in December this year at the Karen Country Club.

As part of both events, NCBA will conduct a tree-planting initiative in line with the Bank’s ‘Change the Story’ movement, which includes a one million indigenous tree nursery endeavour undertaken in partnership with the Kenya Forest Services. Through the initiative, NCBA Bank will seek to encourage members across participating golf clubs to actively participate in tree planting to attain 10 percent forest cover across the country by 2022.

John Gachora, Group Managing Director, NCBA Group, said: “We are delighted to be taking our seventh and eighth events in the calendar to Nyeri and Nanyuki golf clubs. The central region’s cool weather conditions and altitude elevation will offer a wonderful experience for the participants in this weekend’s events.

“As a bank, we are keen to get close to our customers all across the country and are excited that this weekend’s golfing events coincide nicely with the opening of our new branches in the region and provides us an opportunity to engage personally with our customers in the region, all while enjoying a wonderful game of golf.”

The NCBA Golf Series has so far been held at Thika, VetLab, Kitale, Sigona, Mombasa, and Nyali Golf Clubs. Winners from these events will meet at a grand finale event that will be held at the Karen Country Club in December.

As part of the Bank’s endeavour to hone golf skills among the youth, NCBA will hold a two-day Junior Golf Series, which will cater to upcoming golf talent in Kenya for junior golfers aged between six and 18 years.

The junior Series will feature events at Karen Country Club on 23rd and 24th August; and at the Muthaiga Golf Club on 9th and 10th December.
