Experienced duo dropped as Bitok names final women’s team for Tokyo Games

Blocker Violet Makuto and libero Elizabeth Wanyama have been left out of the Kenya women’s volleyball final squad named by head coach Paul Bitok, who explained that it came down the finer details in the numbers and statistics to trim the the team that will represent Kenya at the Tokyo Olympics.

Bitok had selected 14 players who have been training at their Moi Sports Centre Kasarani bubble, but due the restrictions from the Summer Games organizers, he could only name 12.

Veterans Mercy Moim I’ll skipper the team although Bitok says the door is still open for the dropped duo before the final squad list is submitted on 5th July.

*The final squad:*

Mercy Moim, Noelle Murambi, Pamela Chepkurui, Leonida Kasaya, Edith Wisa, Lorine Chebet, Gladys Ekaru
